A distant relative of the Montauk Monster, the Montauk box turtle comes out on Thursday nights at the Montauk Yacht Club for Thirsty Thursday Turtle Races presented by Hendrick’s No Rush Hour Society.  Pick your favorite silks and enjoy two for one Hendrick’s gin cocktails from 6p – 9p at this waterside oasis.  We suggest the “Turtle Tonic” which includes gin, St. Germain liquer, grapefruit juice, and club soda.  Makes us feel like we’re back in Connecticut again.

You can bet on your favorite turtle, and the winner gets prizes ranging from free drinks to gift certificates.  But know this is serious sport.  These turtle athletes are drug tested, and if you don’t know how a turtle pees in a cup we’re not going to be the ones to tell you.

The Montauk Yacht Club full service Resort which is celebrating its 80th anniversary recently underwent a 6 million dollar renovation and each night presents a special evening with drink discounts, music, and a fantastic view of the fancy boats in the harbor from its bars and restaurants.
