This past Saturday, party-goers and art lovers alike converged in Shinnecock Bay for an enchanting Vernissage at the private Southampton home of Peter Felfe. For the third summer in a row, New York artist Annika Connor and her production company, Active Ideas Productions, has collaborated with Mr. Felfe to put together an annual summer art show that doubles as a lavish party celebrating both emerging artists and the summer season.

And they’re off.  Jetsetters and their entourage donned their Saturday afternoon and it’s bloody hot out best and headed to Blue Star Jets Field at Two Trees Farm to enjoy the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge opener between Great Oaks and La Alegria.  The series runs every Saturday from 4 -6 through August 28th and proceeds from the gate go to support the very worthy South Fork Breast Health Coalition.

 
On Saturday the most successful ever Chefs and Champagne® New York to benefit the James Beard Foundation defied the heat and with the cold champagne flowing, the tent at Wolffer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack was the chic place to be.
Taste buds were watering with delectable dishes from 37 fine chefs from Amagansett to Anguilla, most based in the New York area, happy to srut their culinary stuff.

If ever there was a supernatural sense of time and space it is the experience of the annual gala at the LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, this year entitled Excentrica with donations supporting its mission to exemplify living with art in all forms.
Alexandra Munroe’s description of the LongHouse Award honoree Laurie Anderson, “She shares a shimmering knowledge here and now of the universe,” perfectly described not only the performance artist but the whole evening.

If you’re looking for music in the Hamptons vineyards, truly one of the most stunning settings, and we are very picky about our pretty places, is Wolffer Vineyards in Sagaponack.  The winery opens its Tuscan villa doors for Twilight Thursdays from 5 – 7:30pm, where you can buy a glass of wine, enjoy complimentary cheese, and listen to live music while striking a pose on their stone patio overlooking the vines. 

 
Remember how much you loved your sand box when you were a kid?  Add in tall, leggy blondes, a river of rose wine, a DJ from St. Tropez, a dynamic duo of handsome hosts, not to mention a 40’ pool and raw bar and you have Day & Night Restaurant Beach Club.  Daniel and Derek Koch bring their all-day brunch party east from Manhattan to party under the sun at the Capri Hotel in Southampton.

A distant relative of the Montauk Monster, the Montauk box turtle comes out on Thursday nights at the Montauk Yacht Club for Thirsty Thursday Turtle Races presented by Hendrick’s No Rush Hour Society.  Pick your favorite silks and enjoy two for one Hendrick’s gin cocktails from 6p – 9p at this waterside oasis.  We suggest the “Turtle Tonic” which includes gin, St. Germain liquer, grapefruit juice, and club soda.  Makes us feel like we’re back in Connecticut again.

Although I’d like this to be the title of my autobiography, I can at least live the fantasy on Saturdays at Matto Restaurant in East Hampton where Michael Dare, director of special events at MTV and Marc Zowine, star hairdresser, brought Dopo Il Sole (after the sun for those who don’t have a live-in Italian lover).  Easy and breezy is the vibe on the patio, one part Hamptons tea dance and two parts bubbly with a dash of power networking.  Definitely shaken, not stirred.
