LongHouse Reserve BOOM Cosmic Benefit

Submitted by on July 23, 2017 – 8:11 amNo Comment

A highlight of the Hamptons social season is the annual LongHouse Reserve Gala.  Celebrating founder Jack Lenor Larsen’s 90th year and the  hidden treasures of the stunning 16 acre sculpture garden,  this year’s BOOM! Cosmic Benefit attracted a creative and generous crowd who proved that all-white can certainly delight. Even Alice would have been happy to go down this chic rabbit hole.

LongHouse is a treasured part of the artistic and horticultural community and both newcomers and seasoned veterans are continually wowed by the ever changing landscape.

Guests this year were treated to everything from electric sitar player Mohsen Namjoo to guitarist Gian Carlo Feleppa to bathing beauties Brooklyn Peaches who proved ping pong balls in a reflecting pool can be enormous fun to Jamaican band Royal KhaoZ. A silent auction also featured a curated selection of local and legendary artists.

Honorees this year were artist Cai Guo-Quiang and Guggenheim curator Alexandra Munroe. And while the cosmic boom of fireworks was prevented by a drought and the fire marshal, the guests themselves provided enough visual artistry.

You always meet the most interesting people at this event – even the next generation of philanthropists (clearly my garden soul mate.)

The decorative details of this party are part of the enjoyment and the gardens are transformed into the coolest summer lounge.

If you didn’t get a chance to attend the gala do not despair. The gardens are open to the public Wednesday to Saturday afternoons and there are more events in store for the rest of the summer. Whether you are looking for a peaceful oasis from Hamptons Type A I’m late for Soul Cycle get out of my way madness or a romantic date destination, or just a place for a solitude stroll (I have my favorite faerie circle hidden in the back), it is a summer must.  Become a member and have the inside track on all the great garden delights. www.longhouse.org
