James Lecesne brings his award winning solo stage performance to Bay Street for a tour de force where he plays all nine characters.

“Absolute Brightness” is written and performed by James Lecesne, music by Duncan Sheik, directed by Tony Speciale, and is produced by special arrangement with Darren Bagert and Daryl Roth.

This production is a  rebooted version of the one that Lecesne performed to great acclaim off-Broadway last year. “Absolute Brightness” earned Lecesne the 2015 Outer Critics Circle Award and the Off Broadway Theater Alliance Award for outstanding solo performance.

In “Absolute Brightness”, James Lecesne (the writer of the Academy Award-Winning film Trevor), portrays every character in a small Jersey shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is missing.

Leonard’s disappearance leads the investigator to confront the horrors of bullying. Leonard Pelkey also becomes the unexpected inspiration for a town as they question how they live, who they love and what they leave behind.
