Hamptons Fireworks 2014
FIREWORKS
The best way to celebrate the Hamptons Fourth Of July is to watch the fireworks display. Luckily the big booms are spaced out so you don’t have to chose just one. Many of these displays can be watched from the water so if you don’t own a mega yacht maybe grab a few bottles of cold Veuve Clicquot and some lobster salad and hang out on the dock with your thumb out.
Montauk – Friday, July 4th – Umbrella Beach – 9pm
The “Stars Over Montauk by Grucci” are a spectacular sight. The key is to go early to find parking and remember your iPhone flashlight as it can be dark on your way off the beach to your car. Also be prepared for some fairly heavy traffic – you’ve always wanted to listen to War & Peace on audio, right?
Southampton – Friday July 4th – American Picnic with Fireworks by Grucci – 7 to 10pm
A fundraiser for the Southampton Fresh Air Home at a private home on Meadow Lane is about as swanky as it gets, and all for the good cause of helping programs for physically challenged children. It includes games and a picnic for the whole family.
Sag Harbor – Saturday July 5th 9pm
Put on by the Sag Harbor Yacht Club, the Grucci firework display can be seen from Haven’s Beach, Marine Park, or the Long Wharf, and of course by boat. Go early and bring beach chairs, blankets, and a picnic. Sharing your lobster salad will earn you lots of new friends.
Amagansett – Saturday July 5th – Devon Yacht Club 9:15pm
If you’re lucky enough to have a yacht or enough Veuve Clicquot to get yourself invited on one, Three Mile Harbor is a great viewing point. You can also try the beaches near Abrahams Landing.
Shelter Island – Saturday July 12th Crescent Beach – Dusk
If you want to watch the Grucci fireworks from Sunset Beach be sure to make a reservation well in advance and also note restricted parking on the beach. It might be a good night for a cab or pack mule.
East Hampton Village – Labor Day Weekend
Sorry it is Piping Plover getting it on season. If you’re on Main Beach you’ll just have to settle for metaphorical romantic fireworks.
