Harvest East End – Saturday August 25th 6p to 9p

Here is the food version of speed dating. No need to commit because you have so many delicious options of local food and wine from top chefs and vintners. Benefitting the Group For The East End, Peconic Land Trust, and East End Hospice this epicurean festival is a true delight. Be sure to check out their amazing silent auction and raffle. Organized by Merliance and the Long Island Wine Council and presented by Wine Spectator, Harvest East End will be the foodie destination, held this year at the Hampton Classic.

The Hampton Classic August 26th to September 2

This premiere equestrian event has everything from adorable pony hunters to the top show jumpers in the world just returned from the Olympic Games. Running from 8am to 5pm daily you will see hunters, jumpers and equitation. You can make a day of it shopping in the boutiques and having a glass of Louis Roderer champagne ringside.

Saturday Sept. 1st is Optimum® Kids Day with pony rides, face painting, a family circus, magic tricks and all sorts of animals.

Sunday Sept. 2nd at 2pm is the event highlight, the $250,000 FTI Grand Prix where the top riders will compete over a challenging jumping course for top prize money. It is the who’s who in the VIP Tent where the tables are as dressed up as the women. There are also grandstand seats available for viewing.

East Hampton Fireworks – Saturday Sept. 1st – dusk

Main Beach is the premiere viewing spot for viewing the fireworks. Go early to get a spot and bring a picnic to enjoy the show. The town promises no nesting piping plover will be harmed.

Alexander Mijares at the Capri Hotel Southampton – Sat. Aug 25th 7 – 10p

This vibrant artist from Miami brings his colorful art work to the Capri Hotel in Southampton. Join in for specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and sushi by NOBU as well as Music by NVM. Mijares shares his global perspective and inspiration from travel, culture, and of course women with viewers in this interesting display. Caliente.


Silas Marder Gallery Films on the Hay Wall – Friday August 31st

With all the political debate swirling around here’s your chance to reconnect with a total classic – John Frankenheimer’s The Manchurian Candidate. To sit outside at the Silas Marder Gallery and bring a picnic, you have an old fashioned drive in movie feel. But with better sound. Starts at 9pm behind Marders Nursery in Bridgehampton.

The Hamptons International Film Festival Summer Doc “Ethel” – Sept. 1st

As part of its summer documentary series, HIFF will be presenting Ethel at Guild Hall in East Hampton. Alec Baldwin will be on hand to interview filmmaker Rory Kennedy. Ethel is an affectionate look at Rory’s mother and serves as both a testament to the power of family and a fascinating look at some of the momentous historical moments of the 50’s and 60’s. Act early as these screenings sell out quickly.

Big Maybelle: Soul Of The Blues at Bay Street Theater – through Sept. 2

Tony winner Lilias White stars as the legendary blues singer Maybelle Smith at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor. There’s nothing like listening to the blues to make you feel luckier about your own life.

Sag Harbor Farmer’s Market – Every Saturday

Along with a bounty of fresh produce you will find baked goods and seafood as well as local favorites Amagansette Sea Salt, Bee’s Needs Honey, Horman’s Best Pickles (truly!), Mecox Dairy Cheese, and Fat Ass Fudge. Located on Bay Street in front of the Breakwater Yacht Club it runs from 9am to 1pm.

If you haven’t tried the stand up paddle you are missing out on the chance to walk on water. Beginners to racers are enjoying this growing sport. How about making it an Olympic event? Whether you want to do a nature tour with Mike Bottini or SUP Dog Yoga with Jessica Bellafatto or learn how to tackle the ocean waves with Gina Bradley this is the time to get out there. Beware it is addicting.

Sport Fishing – Montauk

Holding some of the sports fishing world records, Montauk has a whole fleet of fishing boats for charter for half day or full day sails to find tuna, shark, or striped bass. They welcome beginners and experts and if you ask nicely will even bait your hook for you.


Azuero Earth Project – Azuero On The Harbor – Sept. 1

Held at the Springs harbor front home of artist Cindy Sherman, the inaugural fundraising event with feature a picnic of tapas and cocktails with an art auction and performances by Rufus Wainwright, Laurie Anderson, Ruben Blades and Luba Mason. The organization was founded to preserve the earth’s ecosystems and promote healthy living communities.
