Hamptons Fireworks 2012

If you’re not a hedge fund manager in North Haven who has the deep pockets to put on a private fireworks display for your wife’s birthday – don’t feel bad.  Here is how you can enjoy Hamptons Fourth of July fireworks.

With Independence Day falling on hump day this year, Hamptons fireworks are more spread out than usual.  The key is to secure a prime viewing seat early whether it is a waterfront restaurant reservation or a beach chair set up well before sunset.  Most displays go off right after dark around 9pm.  Be forewarned that parking can be a nightmare so arrive early.

Sag Harbor June 30th – Long Wharf

Set off just outside the breakwater at the Sag Harbor Yacht Club.  If you haven’t been invited on a yacht then Havens Beach and Marine Park are good for viewing as well as B Smith restaurant.

Wednesday July 4th – Montauk Grucci Fireworks on Umbrella Beach

Any town beach is good viewing.  Go early for parking and bring a picnic – this is hugely popular.  Remember your flashlight or your iPhone flashlight app to get back to your car after dark.

Friday July 6th – Southampton Fresh Air Home’s American Picnic Benefit

Grucci fireworks set off in Shinnecock Bay off Meadow Lane.  You can get the front row seat and benefit a worthy cause at the same time with the Fresh Air Home’s mission to provide a camp for physically challenged children.  Tickets $250 adults, $100 children (under 20).

Saturday July 7th – Devon Yacht Club

These are set off at the Devon Yacht Club at the end of Abraham’s Path in Amagansett.  Look for public beaches along Three Mile Harbor and Barnes Landing.
