hamptons real estate top ten sales 2011

With some of the most expensive zip codes in the country, the Hamptons draw the world’s wealthiest to play in their very exclusive oceanfront sandbox.  While the news spelled doom and global gloom in 2011, the 1% continued to buy up high end Hamptons properties.

According to Suffolk Research Service here are the top 10 Hamptons real estate deals of 2011 and why they were worth the money.

HH daniels lane

#1 Daniels Lane, Sagaponack $38 million for 19 oceanfront acres

Farm fields once famous for their potatoes are now famous for their posh residences.  One of the last larger tracts of land left in Sagaponack these acres also include direct oceanfront footage.  Just down the road is Ira Rennert’s palatial spread valued north of $200 million.  Now there’s a comp for you.

HH Tyndal point

#2 Tyndal Point, North Haven $36 million for 55 acres

This huge waterfront compound has not only stellar views of the bay but plenty of room to park your mega yacht.  Jeff Greene made a big splash when he made this purchase last year.

HH meadow lane 3

#3 Meadow Lane, Southampton $32.5 million for 5 acres

#4Meadow Lane, Southampton $25 million for 5 acres

If there is an “it” address in the Hamptons it would be Meadow Lane.  You have the ocean on one side and the bay on the other and your own helipad at the end of the road.  Some of the Hamptons most exclusive country clubs are just down the street.

#5 Crestview, Sagaponack $24 million for 2.5 acres

You can’t beat the oceanfront view and your neighbors are icons of fashion and music with Elie Tahari on one side and Billy Joel on the other.  Bring some good marital juju with you when you build this house as the magic location couldn’t prevent the impending divorces.

HH georgica pond

#6 Eel Cove $23 million for 2.5 acres

Being on Georgica Pond is like being on Golden Pond  – literally.  The pricey and exclusive neighborhood has Steven Spielberg and Ron Perlman as residents.

parsonage lane

#7 Parsonage Lane, Sagaponack $22.25 million for 7.3 acres

Only a few blocks from the ocean, Parsonage Lane keeps its pastoral views and boasts some of the top quality new construction of homes.  You can have your own English Manor with all the bells and whistles.  And one other beautiful thing in Sagaponack is taxes which are about one third of other Hamlets due to their small school budget.  There’s only one truly little red school house in the district.

#8 Meadow Lane Southampton 21.6 million for 1.4 acres

Need we say helipad again?

#9 Ocean Road, Bridgehampton $20.5 million for 2.1 oceanfront acres

It’s great to be oceanfront but have your manse set back further on the property.  Erosion is a major issue and you don’t want your multimillion dollar home getting pummeled with waves from hurricane high tides.  Having enough property to safely keep your multimillion dollar investment away from the dunes makes you and your insurance company happier.

#10 Old Beach Lane, East Hampton $20.45 million for 2 acres

Just down the road from the beach – the property has hallowed views of the very exclusive Maidstone Club in East Hampton.
