One of the highlights of the Hamptons art viewing season is the Big Show at The Silas Marder Gallery in Bridgehampton with over 50 artists displaying their work on three 8 x 10 canvases.  The variety and creativity from emerging and established artists is a visual pu pu platter to sample.  An added bonus this year is a series by artist Michelle Suna titled Japan 3.11.11 which honors the Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Disaster.  The opening reception on Saturday May 21 from 5 – 9pm is also a great kick off to the Hamptons high season (even if it is only 50 degrees.)

Bring your intellectual curiosity and also your checkbook.  This is an opportunity to purchase original art in small but exciting doses.  Many of the artists will be present to mix with the eclectic crowd and discuss their vision.

Michelle Suna’s work reflect an artist’s expression of prayer for all that Japan’s disaster has impacted using found beach objects placed with Zen-like reverence in the bas-relief of the ethereal stark white gesso and sand frozen in time by resin.

The exhibit is on display until June 22, 2011.
