Long Island Landscapes

We’ve all heard about Lady Chatterley falling for her gardener but how about Lord Chatterley?  Certainly in the Hamptons women landscapers have blazed a blooming trail such as Edwina Von Gal, but who were her green thumbed predecessors.  Author Cynthia Zaitzevsky will be conducting a lecture on her book Long Island Landscapes and the Women Who Designed Them on May 20 in Southampton at the Meadow Club.  “Astonishingly records show that half of the private gardens laid out on Long Island during the Golden Age of country homes were designed by women.”

Aside from enjoying these perennial pioneers come to life, another reason to go is to see the hallowed private Meadow Club which has been newly renovated.  The event benefits the Halsey House gardens, a property of the Southampton Historical Museum.

Lecture 11:30 am

Lunch 12:30 pm

Lecture ticket $35, Lecture and Lunch ticket $75

Her book will be available for purchase and signing.
