Hamptons for Haiti – Rocking Relief Fundraiser Jan. 15
By Heather Buchanan
So you’ve got a scratchy throat and you can’t button your jeans after the holiday gluttony and you just ran outside in your bathrobe yelling, NOOOO to try and stop the automated home heating oil delivery because you can’t pay the bill. All valid bummers. However there is a thing called perspective, and if you sit down with Jonathan Nash Glynn founder of Wings Over Haiti and get a first person report on the human suffering front in Haiti you have a new outlook on how the pathetic state of your pedicure just isn’t important.
With a small plane and a big heart Sag Harbor resident Jonathan flew down to Haiti after the earthquake to help and found that direct action could not be stopped by corruption or disorganization. His personal efforts to bring in doctors and medical supplies grew into a non profit organization Wings Over Haiti to continue his hands-on and wings-on approach. With the help of key supporters such as Shad St. Louis and Melissa McMullen Wings Over Haiti has built a school there which is a beacon of hope in a hopeless situation. Donations don’t get lost in a red tape sea. For even $500 a person can support the school for a month which offers not only education, not only food, but dignity and a road to the future.
