Paddle Diva Stand-Up Paddleboarding

By Holly Buchanan

I have found my new favorite sport – stand-up paddleboarding.   The only thing better than doing stand-up paddleboarding in the Hamptons is doing stand-up paddleboarding with Paddle Diva

 These are my people.

Gina Bradley Paddle Diva

Paddle Diva was founded by Gina Bradley in the summer of 2009.  Gina felt women were completely underserved in the Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) market.  She knew this was an activity that was going to explode with women.  Thus Paddle Diva was born.

Gina has created custom boards and provides instruction and tours designed specifically for women.  Though don’t despair guys.  You’ll sometimes find a man or two in the group.

Why women love Stand-up Paddleboarding

  •  It’s easy to get started. You don’t need a lot of instruction or skill to get started.  The boards are very stable and you’ll be up and paddling almost right away.
  • SUP is a social sport.  If you’re in introvert mode, you can paddle and disappear into your own world.  But if you like to socialize, Paddle Diva’s group tours provide hours of conversation while you paddle and enjoy the stunningly beautiful scenery.
  • You have to disconnect.   No cell phones allowed.  No internet.  Just you, your board and the water.   It’s an amazing way for women to escape their busy world and simply “be” in the present moment.  It’s one of the best cures for stress I’ve found.
  • It’s a great core workout.  Women are always looking for ways to get rid of that belly fat and tone their core.  SUP will get your core toned up in no time. Check out those abs on Gina!   How much would you pay for abs like that?

Stand-up Paddleboarding Through the Fall

Paddle Diva operates through October.  So there’s still time to enjoy stand-up paddleboarding in the Hamptons.

Be sure to check out their Shelter Island/North Haven/Sag Harbor Cove Adventure Paddle Columbus Day Monday October 11.  Email paddlediva@gmail.com.

Or escape to Puerto Rico with the Paddle Diva crew for a special Yoga, Surging and Paddleboarding Retreat October 21-25.
