If you are looking for the one Hamptons summer event which will have the most luminaries under one tent, put on your grass friendly wedges and head to the 6th Annual Authors Night at the East Hamtpon Library Saturday August 14.

Before we spoke to each other in letters, U R HOT, we actually used complete sentences, beautiful turns of phrases, apt metaphors, and poetic license.  Some of the most talented wordsmiths (think Mr. and Mrs. Smith with lethal phrases) will gather to sign their books, chat with readers, and raise funds for a great institution, the East Hampton Library, which by the way is one of the prime resources for information on the history of this beautiful hamlet.

The evening’s Founding Chairman Alec Baldwin, Honorary Co-Chairs Ken Auletta, Candace Bushnell, Robert Caro, Jay McInerney, Richard Reeves, and Authors Committee Chair Barbara Goldsmith will be joined by more than 150 distinguished authors.  It is a unique opportunity to rub literary elbows with celebrated writers.

The evening begins at 5pm with the Author’s Reception under the tent on Library grounds and at 8pm guests will be hosted at specially themed dinners in honor of one of the guest authors at private homes.

Tickets are $100 for the author’s reception only and begin at $225 for the reception and private dinner.  Reserve now.  www.authorsnight.org, 631-324-0222 x7.
