Best In Show – Garden Genius at LongHouse Reserve

Despite the local lack of rain, “There’s no draught of talent,” stated juror and king of exterior decorating John Danzer of the garden desginers competing in Planters On & Off The Ground III and Open Bowls at the LongHouse Reserve sculpture gardens last Saturday in East Hampton.

Creativity and diversity flowed and over flowed, assuring the audience would never think of a potted plant in the same way.  If you don’t happen to have that spread on Further Lane or your own constant gardener, these big ideas in small spaces with inspire you.

The firepit made its way from beach BBQ to garden ornament in what Danzer complimented as “Bold and balanced in scale in a floating container.”

Danzer commented on the cool, subtle and relaxing quality and its well craftedness.

The container within a container attracted Danzer and the beautifully scented Jasmine at eye level won him over.

Guests were also treated to a special performance of the Music Festival Of The Hamptons by the Aeolus Quintet.  You can also join in this magical garden music combination at LongHouse again on July 31st.


You can view all the container designs at LongHouse Reserve which is open Wednesday Through Saturday 2 – 5pm in July and August.


Don’t miss their spectacular fundraiser EXcentricA on Saturday July 17 which this year includes a special dancing after dark young patron $50 ticket starting at 9:45p.
