Harborfest in Sag Harbor which runs from Sept. 11 – 13 is a hallowed local tradition which lets you know front and center that you are lucky to be in a maritime village with a rich history. How many times have you walked by historic buildings or cemeteries or heard something about a famous author who lived here. Now is your chance to find out.

Several walking tours offer you the chance to discover the stories behind the picket fences. You can chose from the Maritime Sag Harbor Walking Tour, African American and Native American Food Tasting and Tour, Oakland Cemetery Tour, Women’s Lives Tour, Temple Adas Israel Tour, or Old Burying Ground Tour.

Main Street will also be alive with sidewalk sales, face paintings, art gallery tours, and parades leading down to the wharf with an arts and crafts fair, farmers market and a clam shucking contest. Who wouldn’t want to be known as the best shucker?clam shucking contest

On the water there will be whaleboat races, classic ships, and sailboat races.

And music is in the air with concerts ranging from old fashioned shanty singing to dance vibe music along with film screenings and readings.

Another highlight is the Antiques Appraisal Dock Show on Sunday from 11:30am to 1pm.
