Tax-deductible dating continues in the Hamptons with social events raising money for causes ranging from Breast Cancer Patient Support to homeless animals, to local cultural institutions.   As always fine food and wine and let’s face it, perfect pretty people watching abound whether you’re listening to Gershwin under a tent or sliding into home base (literally or should we say literarily).  Read on.

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival 2005

Held at the Channing Sculpture Garden  in Bridgehampton, this event truly has a bit of magic about it with world class musicians playing under a tent surrounded by carved woodland creatures by Walter Channing.  Music ranges from Tchaikovsky to Gershwin with a special guest appearance by David Pittsinger from Broadway’s South Pacific.  Wine and appetizers are served at 6p and concert starts at 7.  The festival runs through August 23 with a Family Concert, Instrumental Fireworks and Classics to Currents.  More info at www.bcmf.org

Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton at Fridays At Five

A beloved icon who still looks as youthful as when she sang in Sound of Music, Julie Andrews will be up close and personal to discuss her book “Home: A Memoir of My Early Years” and her daughter Emma will discuss, “Raising Bookworms: Getting kids ready for pleasure and empowerment.”  Wonder if 40 year olds can still apply.  Wine and nibblies served – cost $15 to benefit the library.

Outdoor Screening at Silas Marder Gallery – Invasion of The Body Snatchers 9pm.

We all know some bodies that we’d like to see snatched and taken over because becoming a murdering maniac might be an improvement.  This free public event is at Silas Marder’s Gallery at Marder’s Nursery in Bridgehampton on Scuttle Hole Road.  Bring a friend and a blanket and a super monster blasting ray gun.
