Ladles of Love Spoons Up Taste Fest and Rock N Roll

Kudos to John Kawalenko and Cheryl Stair of Art of Eating Catering and Hampton Event Management International for Ladles Of Love where locals came out in support of locals to enjoy a rockin’concert and food and wine tasting to raise money for the East End Food Pantries.

The concert at Principi Farm had a little bit of everything from acoustic guitar to drummers to rock and roll to hip hop.  Loved the guys from Montauk, Suddyn.  Be sure to check out their myspace page. The Band of Brothers brought back so many classic favorites it was like a time warp with Simon Kirk of Bad Company, GE Smith of Saturday Night Live, John Conte of Billy Joel, Jeff Kazee of Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.

And while revelers got a taste of all these great bands, the tent goers got a taste of the best of Hamptons’ restaurants which came out with their pu pu platter finest to support the cause. A little like choosing a favorite child, I couldn’t pick a favorite although I’m putting Turtle Crossings BBQ sliders on my speed dial. Also loved all the local wines with a summer favorite the Bedell Domaines CC Rose and was glad to see Old Farm Vineyards there, one of my favorite smaller family run vineyards on the North Fork in Southold. And of course no evening is complete without a decadent bit of Fat Ass Fudge.

A huddled group of savvy shoppers discovered the Judith Ripka jewels silent auction arranged by The Helping Hand which works with charities to put together jewels and other great items for silent auctions at events.  The ladies were taking full advantage of guilt free, discount shopping.

As I looked around and saw so many familiar faces I was reminded once again, we realize that we are lucky to live in a community that cares and puts so much effort into supporting its own.  Check out to see ongoing ways you can continue to contribute. Rock on.
