Why sit quietly at a bar when you can get up in front of a crowd of strangers and have the chance to be a superstar or an ass?  All you American Idolaters and out of work real estate agents, here’s a guide to where to go for Hamptons Karaoke each night of the week. Remember, you can be a selfish Karaoke singer or one who thinks of others.  Clearly if you choose Bridge Over Troubled Water, that’s for you, even if you sing it well.  You pick something like Lady Marmalade and take one for the team to get people dancing.  Duets are great like Don’t you Want Me Baby because you get a deal on humiliation –  two for the price of one.  Your best bet is always trade up and find a partner who’s a much better singer than you and just look pretty and lip synch.  As one man said to his partner, “You can be the Duran to my Duran any day.”

Plan ahead – the books organized by artist or title are hogged by maniacs and in the dim lighting are hard to read.  If you come prepared with your song numbers you can jump right in.
