ROCK OUT — HAMPTONS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING OF “IT MIGHT GET LOUD” AT GUILD HALL

Academy Award winning director Davis Guggenheim reveals the personal stories of three generations of electric guitar virtuosos – The Edge (U2), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and Jack White (The White Stripes) in this documentary film, “It Might Get Loud” part of the SummerDoc Series with HIFF and Guild Hall which is sponsored by American Airlines, Altour, and c/o The Maidstone.

Series Host Alec Baldwin will participate in a panel discussion with Guggenheim and Lisa Robinson, Contributing Editor for Vanity Fair after the screening.  Get the sneak peak at this Sony Pictures Classic Release with the chance to see the filmmaker up close and personal at this evening sponsored by The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation which supports new innovative efforts in education and cultural endeavors (thank goodness someone still cares) and Hamptons Magazine.

SUPER SATURDAY SHOPPING EXTRAVAGANZA TO BENEFIT OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH

This is the 12th annual event to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund co-hosted by Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa, and Ariel Foxman of InStyle Magazine.  Shopping is a competitive sport for Hamptons women but add in both huge discounts and money going to a good cause and the claws are out and the platinum cards flying.  From designer clothing for kids and adults to handbags to gourmet dining it’s a virtual princess pupu platter.  And if you want to read an incredibly moving memoir pick up “No Time To Die” by fashion editor icon Liz Tiberis  in honor of whom the event was started.  Tickets are $450 or $650 which includes the preview.

MERCEDES-BENZ POLO CUP AT BLUE STAR JETS FIELD

BRIDGEHAMPTON CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Under the dedicated guidance of artistic director Marya Martin, the festival which runs from July 29 – August 23 kicks off its season with a benefit concert, “Invitation to the Dance” on Saturday Aug 1st at the Atlantic Golf Club.  Here’s your chance for music on the links including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Strauss, and Piazzolla.  Treat yourself to the Tiger Woods of the classical music world, with internationally acclaimed musicians.  Be sure to check out their schedule as there is a variety of music including the Off-Beat series which branches into great, funky, new pieces.

B.N. BOAT PARTY

Permits are pending but rumor has it the water world party of the summer will be on Sunday August 2.  It’s a local’s secret so I won’t reveal but if you’ve got a boat and you’re super cool and respectful and well-behaved, then locals may let you in on the secret.  Hint – try bribing someone at the Corner Bar.

 

LADLES OF LOVE BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE EAST END FOOD PANTRY NETWORK –  FOOD AND WINE TASTING TENT

Even members of the Hamptons community can fall on hard times so this benefit raises money for the local food pantries.  John Kowalenko and Cheryl Stair of Art of Eating and Hampton Event Management International present the evening which features a concert with performances by Band of Brothers including Simon Kirk from Bad Company, GE Smith from Saturday Night Live, John Conte from Billy Joel, Jeff Kazee from Bon Jovie, Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, as well as Bastards of Boom, The Surf Dogs, Mama Lee and Friends, Danni D. rob Cannillo, Suddyn and Matt Coss.  What a mix.

Those buying VIP and VVIP tix are invited to a tent with a food and wine tasting from the finest East End establishments.

People are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the food pantries.

Do bring a blanket or beach chair, don’t bring coolers or bottles or alcohol.

General admission starts at $50 and goes up to $1,000 for a VVIP ticket.
