Live Jazz Thurs & Friday at Wolffer Vineyards
If you’re looking for music in the Hamptons vineyards, truly one of the most stunning settings, and we are very picky about our pretty places, is Wolffer Vineyards in Sagaponack. The winery opens its Tuscan villa doors for Twilight Thursdays from 5 – 7:30pm, where you can buy a glass of wine, enjoy complimentary cheese, and listen to live music while striking a pose on their stone patio overlooking the vines.

Beware – the romantic setting has inspired numerous dangerous liasons and more than one proposal, and yes you can get married there. While people rave about the Wolffer Rose and go a little bit crazy if it sells out before the end of summer (we saw one major catfight over the last case), our personal favorite is the Pinot Gris. Winemaker Roman Roth is a wizard with the grapes. Our guess is he sings to them with his operatic voice.
Like all great things, one night simply wasn’t enough so now Wolffer has added Sunset Fridays from 5pm to sunset with music by Lively World Jazz at their newly refurbished farm stand around the corner at 3312 Montauk Highway. That way you can take date number one to Thursday and date number two to Friday.
Note your calendars as one of the best events of the summer is Chefs & Champagne New York on Saturday July 25, the annual fundraiser for the James Beard Foundation where Wolffer wines are featured as well as plenty of bubbly and tasty tidbits prepared by 30 different top chefs. (Not the event to wear white to as we learned the hard way.) This year the honorees are restaurateurs Alex von Bidder & Julian Niccolini and the 50th anniversary of Four Seasons Restaurant.
And much missed is founder Christian Wolffer who took a twinkle in his eye and turned it into a thriving vineyard and superb showcase for Mother Nature.
